About Us

Erin Keeney, M.S., CCC-SLP
Clinical Director, TheraCare Speech Therapy

Erin earned her Master’s of Science degree from the University of the Pacific in 2002. She also earned a minor in psychology with an emphasis in behavior analysis. While completing her Master’s degree, Erin worked for a private organization specializing in ABA therapy for children with autism. She continues to further her education in this area and enjoys working with children and adults on the spectrum. Erin holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed speech-language pathologist in the state of California. 

Erin also holds a Vital Stim certification. Vital Stim is an FDA-approved method of retraining the muscles of the swallowing mechanism using neuromuscular electrical stimulation. She has additional experience working with pediatric patients who have feeding aversion/hypersensitivity. Learn more about Vital Stim here.

Erin has earned a certification for Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT-LOUD), the only voice treatment for patients with Parkinson’s Disease that boasts level one efficacy data to support its effectiveness at improving vocal function. Learn more about LSVT LOUD Here.

During her 17 years of experience as a private practice speech-language pathologist, Erin has also gained experience in treating the following diagnoses: ADD/H, Cochlear Implant/Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Aphasia, Articulation Disorders, Apraxia (developmental and acquired), Dysarthria, Dysphagia, Fluency, Language Disorders, Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD), AAC, pragmatics, and severe phonology.

Erin speaks English, Spanish, and American Sign Language (ASL). 


Tonya McDaniel (Kang), M.S., SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist, TheraCare

Tonya earned her Master’s of Science Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, but is native to California. She earned her Master’s degree in 2017, and has experience working with a variety of diagnoses in the private practice setting. Tonya specifically enjoys working with patients with voice and fluency disorders. 

Tonya is a certified clinician for Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT-LOUD) and has successfully treated voice disorders in multiple patients diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Tonya additionally has experience treating the following diagnoses: Articulation Disorders, Autism, Aphasia, Apraxia, Dysarthria, Fluency, Language Disorders, Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD), AAC, pragmatics, and Severe Phonology. Tonya has experience using the Fast ForWord program to improve language, memory, and literacy function in patients diagnosed with language disorders, and dyslexia. Tonya speaks, reads and writes English, Spanish, and Mandarin and looks forward to the opportunity to communicate with patients in their native language.


Francesca Sommerfeld, B.S., SLPA
Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, TheraCare

Francesca (“Frankie”, as she is affectionately called), holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, Sacramento. She holds a license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the state of California and is supervised by Erin Keeney. Frankie graduated from CSU Sacramento in 2017 and has been a part of the TheraCare family since then. Frankie has experience treating the following diagnoses: Autism, ADD/HD, Articulation, Severe Phonology, Language Disorders, Fluency, Pragmatics, and Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD). She has experience using the Fast ForWord program to facilitate improved language, memory, and literacy function in patients diagnosed with language disorders and CAPD.
